Sudoku Vault is a clean, no-fuss sudoku game with more range than most. You can play on 4x4, 6x6 or the classic 9x9 board, and each size comes in four difficulty levels: Basic, Normal, Hard and Expert. That makes it a good pick whether you are learning sudoku or want a proper challenge.

Two tools make it pleasant to play. Notes let you pencil in the numbers a cell could hold, and the Check button removes incorrect entries and locks in the correct ones. It is a calm way to train your logic without having to restart a whole grid over one slip.

How to play Sudoku Vault

• Choose a board size and a difficulty level.
• Select a cell with your mouse or touchpad, then pick a number from the on-screen pad.
• Use the Note button to switch to pencil marks for candidate numbers.
• Tap Check to validate your entries. Wrong numbers are removed and right ones are locked.

General sudoku tips:

• Start with the rows, columns and boxes that are already most filled in. They have the fewest possibilities.
• Scan one number at a time across the whole grid to see where it can and cannot go.
• Keep your notes up to date. When you place a number, clear it from the notes in the same row, column and box.
